Residency training in four steps
Your training moves through four stages. Below you will find what to do at each stage and the pages and documents to use.
1 Placement and starting work · First 45 days After ÖSYM announces the placement results, you apply to our faculty with the required documents within 10 working days. Your appointment and start of work are completed within 45 days. Application steps · Appointment petition (DOCX) · Application documents (DOCX) |
2 Training and assessment · Throughout your training Your training follows the core curriculum of your specialty: you complete the compulsory rotations and have the competencies you gain recorded in your logbook. Your unit training supervisor (the head of department, or the head of division for subspecialties) checks your logbook every six months and writes an assessment for each six-month period. Core curricula · Rotations · Logbooks · UEYS |
3 Residency thesis · Starts in the first half of training Your thesis topic and supervisor are set in the first half of your training. Under our faculty guideline you obtain ethics committee approval before starting the thesis. You submit the thesis to your unit training supervisor no later than three months before the end of your training; the jury reviews it within one month and holds your oral defence. Residency Thesis Forms · Thesis template (DOCX) · Clinical Research Ethics Committee |
4 Exit examination and registration · At the end of training You sit the exit examination once your thesis is accepted, your training period and rotations are complete and the core curriculum part of your logbook is approved. The examination is held within 30 working days of the jury being appointed. If you pass, the result is sent to the Ministry of Health within 15 days, and the Ministry issues and registers your specialty certificate. |
