Residency Rotations
A rotation is compulsory training in specialties other than your own during your residency, as determined by the Medical Specialty Board (Regulation art. 3/m). The Board decides the specialties and durations of the rotations (art. 5/1-ç).
Rotations of your specialty: TUK Residency Rotations (Decision No. 82) This decision lists the compulsory rotations and their durations for each specialty. |
What you need to know
At your institution · As a rule, training time and rotations are completed at the institution of the programme you were placed in (art. 18/3). |
Training elsewhere · If the host institution gives you a letter of acceptance, you may receive permission to train at another institution in Türkiye or abroad for up to one year, with the approval of your unit training supervisor and the residency training board and the consent of the Ministry; rotations that cannot be done at your own institution do not count towards this one-year limit (art. 18/3). In university hospitals, the faculty executive board acts as the residency training board (art. 7/2-a). |
Assessment · When a rotation ends, the trainers who delivered it assess whether you have reached its objectives (art. 18/5). |
If insufficient · A rotation found insufficient is repeated and its duration is added to the training period. If it is again insufficient, it is repeated one last time at another institution; a resident found insufficient again is dismissed from residency (art. 18/5). |
Exemption · If you are already a specialist in the rotation field, you are deemed to have completed that rotation (art. 18/6). |
